Our Mission Statement
Founded in 1868 by John Ellison Macartney, a member
of the local country gentry, Clogher Cricket Club has known many incarnations
and now spans three centuries! The present club began in 1962 and, since 1984,
has been based at Moss Monaghan, just outside the Cathedral Town of Clogher
itself, on the Fivemiletown Road. Most of our members come from the Clogher
Valley, from Augher, Clogher and Fivemiletown!

We are all very enthusiastic about our cricket and
would greatly welcome the interest and support anyone reading this mission
statement has to offer.
Our Aims:
- Clogher Cricket Club aims to provide cricket as a recreational summer
activity for those of all ages who have a love for the game and to maintain
a tradition in the area that dates back to 1868.
- We aim to promote the game very much as a team sport, with a strong
emphasis on teamwork and team spirit.
- We believe that everyone who takes part in the club, young and old, should
have the opportunity to take part both at practices and in matches for the
Club.
- We aim to provide an activity for young people in the area which is both
character-building and which develops a sense of belonging, thereby
engendering a sense of community spirit in the up and coming generation in
the Clogher Valley.
- Finally, we aim to promote a sense of friendship, fellowship and fun
amongst all involved in the Club and the clubs we play.
Our objectives:
- To maintain the pitch and grounds (using a ride-on lawnmower, roller etc)
in such a way that we provide the best possible surface on which to play our
cricket.
- To raise the funds necessary to do this and to cover the cost of insurance
through members' subscriptions, bill-board advertising and requests for
sponsorship, acknowledging publicly all sponsorship received.
- To hold a regular weekly practice on a Monday evening, with a view
to maximising the participation of our youngest members, and to do this
safely.
- To organise as many games as possible, both serious and friendly, on
Wednesdays or Saturdays, home and away.
- To develop and encourage, if possible, a membership large enough to
operate both a 1st and 2nd XI.
- To publish our own newsletter, circulate it amongst the membership, send
it to current and potential sponsors, distribute around the waiting rooms of
our local Doctors, Opticians and Dentists. Plus, via the Internet - the rest
of the World.
If you would like to become a member
or sponsor of Clogher Cricket Club, wherever you are in the World - we would
welcome you warmly.
