The main search engines we include when we are submitting for clients are as follows: Please note that some of the above search engines and portals may take results from a variety of other search facilities. For example, Excite now no longer uses its' own database - but uses Overture and Inktomi listings. For other countries, we have a comprehensive list of appropriate search facilities used in these target markets. Although there are many other search facilities - most draw from one of the result databases listed above. Overture US and Overture UK results are also integrated in to some of the above listings which are covered in our pay-per-click section. One other important site to be listed in is The Open Directory Project which is featured in our Directory Section. This does not receive much traffic in its' own right, but feeds many other search engines. Many other search facilities draw their results from one or more of the above databases in one way or another (including, in the UK - Freeserve and NTL). To make things more confusing, search engines also share their databases with each other. Google gets data from the ODP and then gives back-up results to Yahoo! FAST powers some results on Lycos.
